These are not suggestions for costume shoes. These are suggestions for shoes you can wear on October 31st, say, to the office or running your errands. They’ll keep you festive and stylish all in one, which in this case means the classic All Hallow’s combo of orange and black. If you’re heading to a business meeting, try these demure Kabou pumps from Robert Clergerie (now $272, 40% off the original price). These are officially listed as being “tan” and “dark brown” but that looks a whole lot like orange and black to me.
Want to run those errands in sleek athletic-inspired style? Then snap up the super-soft Arche Galan on sale for $214.
When it comes to looking for shoes that are a bit out there with color and style, you know you don’t have to any further than Irregular Choice. Sure, sometimes that “out there” becomes “across the entire universe,” but I think these Jezebel flats ($104) are snappy and cute. And, of course, Halloween appropriate.
Need some more height to your Halloween heels? Try this pretty leaf-printed Stacy Adams Tatum pump for $89. Plus, this one makes a nice fall footwear addition. Seasonal, a bit whimsical, but still classy and demure enough to go upscale.
If you want something more casual, and you happen to be somewhere where the weather’s actually getting cold, keep your feet warm in these cute (and highly affordable at only $63!) Blink Gail booties with the nice accent of orange laces.
And just to prove that there’s a Halloweeny shoe out there for EVERYONE, even you serious ice climbers can have festive holiday-appropriate Halloween boots if you try these Asolo Manaslu hardcore gear boots, although they’ll set you back a whopping $804!
Trick or treat, indeed! ⓓⓞⓝ'ⓣ ⓒⓞⓟⓨ ⓜⓨ ⓑⓛⓞⓖ

Shoebunny spotted Madonna in Christian Louboutin heels.
This style is called “Mad Mary” and is from the Louboutin fall/winter 2007/2008 collection. What a name, what a pair of shoes. Take some studs and you can transform a conservative style like the Mary-Janes into one hot shoe. For reference the non-studded Mary-Janes from Louboutin have been worn by Jessica Alba, Sarah Michelle Gellar (and here again), Halle Berry, Carmen Electra, and Eva Longoria.
Christian Louboutin offers several studded styles in this season: flat studded boots as worn by Rihanna, studded booties, studded high heel boots, and studded Mary-Janes.
Also see Madonna in Versace sandals, Miu Miu heels, or Gina shoes.
For more Christian Louboutin shoes refer to Shoebunny’s ever-growing Christian Louboutin collection.

Remember the Charles David Warehouse Sale I blogged about earlier this week? As a shoeblogger for Shoeblog, I felt that it was my solemn duty to do some “research” and attend the sample sale. Plus, I had to be in the area anyways to pick up my relatives from LAX. Without further ado, here’s my full report for all your shoe lovers….
At the T-intersection of Buckingham Parkway, visitors are greeted to the Charles David Warehouse with the following sign. Note: The area consists of a bunch of business centers and warehouses so don’t be alarmed if it doesn’t look like you are in a shopping/retail area.
The sale is actually in the parking lot of the warehouse. So, girls, if you are attending, you might want to bring water and/or a hat. It was quite hot out there.
The shoes were, for the most part, arranged by size. The setup is basically a U-shape with a thick center aisle for common sizes like 7s and 8s. Here’s my rudimentary drawing that shows where the shoes are.
And now the good stuff….the shoes! Overall, I felt the selection was pretty good. The sale carried shoes from the Charles David, Charles by Charles David, and Exchange by Charles David line. When I got there (around Friday, 10am), they said they would be continuously restocking the shoes until near the end of the day. From the looks of the loading dock, I think they were getting ready to replenish the Exchange line.
Sadly, while the sale lists handbags, I was informed they sold out on the first day of the sale. I guess the early bird really does catch the worm.
Considering that Charles David shoes can run up to $200 / pair, I thought the prices were fantastic. I felt highly incentivized to purchase in bulk, since a pair of Charles David shoes went for $45 but 2 or more pairs when for $30 a pair. For the Exchange and Charles by Charles David line, the shoes were $25 or $22.50 for 2 or more pairs.
In case you find a shoe without the matching pair, look for an area with shoes missing their solemate.
The sitting area offers you a place to get away from the sun and try on some shoes. There are also mirrors at the end of the center aisles in case you need a different view.
What I affectionately call the shoebox graveyard. All purchases from the shoe do NOT come with the box and are discarded to the graveyard.
I felt the sale was pretty well organized. The checkout line was only a minute long wait when I went. While the salespeople were not overly friendly (i.e. didn’t come up to me and see if I needed help), they were quite helpful when I had questions. I can only assume that it was their second day dealing with shoe crazed women in the sun, so I thought their attitude was very good.
Now I bet you’re wondering what I picked up. I think I fared quite well. I bought 6 pairs of shoes (not all for me) for $165!!! Some of them are probably too high for me, but I just couldn’t resist the price. Also, it’s charity dinner season, so I’ll have ample opportunity to walk around for only a few minutes before sitting down at the dinner table.

Quante scarpe avete nell’armadio?
NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - American women have come out of the closet with a secret -- most own about 19 pairs of shoes and some have hidden purchases from their partners. A poll of 1,057 women by the Consumer Reports National Research Center for shopping magazine ShopSmart found U.S. women on average own 19 pairs of shoes although they only wear four pairs regularly while 15 percent have over 30 pairs. The survey also found women would risk injury to squeeze into new slingbacks or stilettos, with 43 percent of women saying they had been at least moderately injured by shoes and 8 percent reporting serious injuries like sprains or breaks. "Women love their shoes and are willing to go to great lengths for them - including risking injury and hiding their purchases from a significant other," said Lisa Lee Freeman, editor-in-chief of ShopSmart which is published by non-profit consumer research group Consumer Union. "Women are passionate shoe shoppers and this survey shows that shoe shopping is almost a sport for women. I know I hide shoes from my husband. My secret trick is to bring them home without the box." The telephone survey found women on average bought four pairs of shoes a year -- with 13 percent admitting to hiding a purchase from their partner. Six out of 10 women regret at least one shoe purchase and on average women have worn a quarter of their shoes only once. Shoe guru Meghan Cleary, who hosts a show "Shoe Therapy" on TV shopping channel HSN, said women's love of shoes was nothing new but women had now come out of the closet with their obsession, encouraged by TV shows like "Sex and the City" where the women speak openly about their love for their shoes. "I often speak to women who have about 400 pairs of shoes. One woman I spoke to had 400 pairs of which 300 were knee-high black boots," said Cleary, who has about 150 pairs herself. "A new pair of shoes makes a woman feel great - and they last longer than a box of chocolates. Forget indulging in a chocolate sundae and go buy shoes for a quick little uplift." Sales of shoes has increased in recent years with figures from retail tracker NPD Group showing U.S. shoe sales rose 9 percent in 2005 to nearly $42 billion or 1.4 billion pairs. Figures for 2006 were not available. But unlike clothing, which is the most often purchased item online by women, Internet shoe shopping has not yet caught on with only 14 percent of women buying shoes online. Seven out of 10 women, or 74 percent, said they liked to try shoes on before buying them. "Trying on shoes in a store is fun as you don't have to strip off in front of a brightly lit mirror," said Cleary.

We’ve been delinquent in our historical shoe fix department, what with all the excitement of the various Fashion Weeks over the globe (you know what, I bet you a Tokyo Fashion Week would yield the craziest footwear like, EVER, don’t you think?). Anyhoo, to make up for this, I give you today not one, not two, but an entire exhibit of historical shoes, and hey, if you’re in Boston, you can actually go see the whole thing. If not, you can take a tour of the Walk this way exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, which will be open until March 2008. Well worth it! I leave you with just one example:
These are Viviene Westwood platforms from her Spring/Summer 1991 Collection, “Cut, Slash, and Pull.” According to the exhibition website, the pattern on the uppers was taken directly from a brocaded silk damask fabric, known as a “bizarre silk,” here transformed into printed cotton denim. Positively wild!
