  Sto ancora metabolizzando questo trend per il prossimo autunno inverno 2007/08...avevamo già parlato dei "sandali da sci di Balenciaga", forti, decisamente forti, ma praticamente importabili!
Cosa ne pensate di tutte queste borchie applicate sulle scarpe, che sono piaciute ai grandi stilisti come Chanel che ci presenta questo stivaletto in vernice; o di un altro modello Balenciaga in grigio e nero, per arrivare alla scarpa metallic Givenchy e per finire con il sandali Burberry...

 Una forte dose di coraggio mista ad una sana passione per lo sci: queste le doti richieste per sfoggiare il coloratissimo stiletto di Balenciaga, che non è di certo passato inosservato durante la settimana della moda parigina.

It’s been a long time that I’ve been looking for a pair of spats to add some flair to my shoe wardrobe. I’ve tried tracking them down in vintage clothing stores, through ebay, and through various online shops. But none of them have really hit me right. However, recently, there seems to be a noticeable resurgence in interest in spats, because people have started to sell them in more interesting designs.
Spatterdash has been selling men’s spats and pocket squares for the dapper gentleman for a while now, and they’ve recently come out with a line of women’s ankle spats, which includes your basic white
and some more snazzy choices like leopard print and red satin
There’s also the UK-based company Strumpets, which is a big favorite of uniquely styled celebs like Gwen Stefani. Elizabeth Melinek, the Strumpets designer, makes high fashion spats that make me drool. Check out some examples
You can’t buy them online easily, but you might be able to find a pair if you hunt for them. Or you can check the stockists page and see if there’s a store near you that sells them.
And then, for a whole different look, you can turn to Maide, a German company that makes these incredibly detailed, gorgeous spats. They may look like they belonged to someone three or four generations ago, but they’re really just incredibly finely made. If you’re interested in these, use the contact info on the site to see if they’re still available and what the prices are. Be prepared for them to be high… that’s all I’m sayin’.

Imparare a sedurre, in palestra
Tacchi a spillo, short o minigonna e tanta voglia di imparare la sottile arte della seduzione. Non più, o non solo, step, addominali e bilancieri ma l'ultima tendenza fitness che sta già spopolando negli Stati Uniti: lo stretching sui tacchi a spillo, per allenare il fisico e ritrovare sicurezza e femminilità (soprattutto in vista dell'estate).
Tutte pazze per lo stretching
Pare che Paris Hilton e Victoria Beckahm non possano più fare a meno. Perfino le più 'serie' Sharon Stone e Julia Roberts ne sono state conquistate. Si tratta di un modo nuovo e più divertente di fare stretching: sui tacchi a spillo. Con un duplice risultato, tonificare i muscoli di gambe e glutei e imparare la sottile arte deduttiva del camminare su un tacco 12.
Come è nata l'idea?
La trainer Lucia Favoldelli spiega che, data la grande richiesta di trattamenti per le gambe da parte delle clienti della Dai Spa Virgin, si è pensato di offrire alle donne qualcosa di innovativo e curioso, ma che fosse anche in linea con i loro interessi.
La lezione
Ciascuna lezione è pensata per una remise en forme completa all'insegna del glamour e della femminilità. Si compone di tre parti: Stiletto Stretching, per acqusire la postura; Virgin Dance, per la coordinazione e la scioltezza del bacino; Boobs Pump, perché anche il decolléte vuole la sua parte.
Stiletto Stretching
Stiletto Stretching, per imparare ad allungare la muscolatura delle gambe, dal polpaccio alle cosce, e acquisire la giusta postura ed eleganza, perfino su un tacco 12.
Virgin Dance
Virgin Dance, viene in soccorso delle meno esperte, aiutandole a ritrovare la migliore coordinazione e scioltezza nel movimento del bacino. Come? Con un mix di facili coreografie che riguardano proprio questa sensuale parte del corpo.
Boobs Pump
Boobs Pump, mira a tonificare i muscoli del seno, per superare a pieni voti anche la prova scollatura. Il tutto grazie a una specifica sessione di esercizi con i pesi.
La musica in sottofondo
La musica è fondamentale in tutte e 3 le sessioni. Durante lo stretching è di sottofondo, mentre nella parte "dance" e di tonificazione diventa la vera e propria protagonista che detta il ritmo. Le coreografie, gli esercizi e i movimenti sono a tempo.
A quale età?
Le scarpe a tacco alto, per loro natura, sono uno strumento di selezione naturale dei partecipanti. Il corso è rivolto a tutte le persone che - per lavoro o per passione - portano il tacco 10 o 12. Non esistono limiti anagrafici o fisici generalizzabili. L'unico requisito è sapere camminare con questo tipo di calzature e possedere un discreto controllo della postura.
Fondamentale... il tacco 12
Avere un minimo di confidenza con questo tipo di calzature è necessario, soprattutto per la parte di ballo e di tonificazione. Anche se, durante la lezione, si apprendono tecniche per migliorare i propri movimenti e rendere "sopportabili" i tacchi, anche chi non li porta abitualmente.
I muscoli che lavorano
Quando si indossano tacchi alti i muscoli più sollecitati sono tutti quelli della parte inferiore: gambe, glutei e anche addominali. Il corso però, per favorire l'equilibrio, la respirazione e la scioltezza, coinvolge anche i muscoli di petto e braccia.
Obiettivo finale...
Innanzitutto camminare sicure sui tacchi, in maniera elegante e soprattutto comoda. E poi... cosa c'è di più affascinante di una camminata elegante su un tacco 10 o 12?

 Designers have a tendency to compromise the beauty of a shoe for making a statement. While I find many designer shoes horribly overdone, these Gucci peep toes are just plain gorgeous.
In lush black suede, I love the whole shape, from the well proportioned peep toe to the slim heel back. The big selling point on this is the Swarovski crystal detailing on the 4 inch stiletto which is a cute little addition that isn't glaringly bling. They're $595 from Gucci's new A/W collection.

Manolo says, this shoe from the Betsey Johnson, it has changes the way the Manolo he thinks of the Betsey Johnson. Before the Manolo he thought she was the fun designer who knew when to draw the line on the kitschy crap. Now, the Manolo, he knows she clearly does not.
The Manolo he has the two questions about this:
1) Who did the Betsey Johnson think was the audience for this monstrosity? It is not just gimmicky, it is gimmicky at nearly $300 of the American dollars!
2) Okay, the lips and the domino the Manolo he gets, but what is the up with the rings? Are they to be the earrings?
It is the attention to ridiculous details such as this that makes this shoe a horror for the ages.

The shoes I like are placed somewhere on a kairotic continuum (where kairos=opportune occasion), the high points of which are elegant, beautiful, pretty, practical, athletic, comfortable, cute.
Occasionally (for what is kairotic if not fit for the right occasion!), I feel none of the above. Instead, I feel whimsical. As in, ha-ha, you didn't expect that out of me, did ya? As in, I'm in the mood for fun, play, irony, and I don't really give a damn about conventional notions of style. Well, at least not today. The whimsical I'm talking about is beyond quirky or unusual: it's downright surprising, almost shocking, and eliciting comments without exception. I would wear whimsical shoes as a surefire way to attract attention--and épater les bourgeois, biensur!
On such (however infrequent) occasions, I might feel like wearing these L'Autre Chose 'Bali' wedges, which are nothing if not whimsical:
 (and yes, that is a sculpted wooden wedge heel, complete with a hut and a palm tree. Guess what I'm in a mood for!)
Or of course, you can pick and choose from Camper's rather large collection of whimsical shoes; just make sure you pick from the whimsically pretty and not the whimsically ugly. For example, I might make you contemplate the rainbow of colors and patterns in these 'twin' loafers:
 Nothing says "play with me!" like a pair of clown sandals from Anthropologie:
(yes, yes, it's clown perched on a red ball. Deal with it!)
As long as you don't abuse it, whimsy can be your friend. Go ahead and have fun with shoes every once in a while!

 A number of my friends think that French Connection is overpriced for what it is, and thus avoid it. Sadly for me, such logical shopping does not occur and so I'm still a sucker for paying over the odds for cute pieces. Oli are currently stocking these French Connection satin jewel sandals, which I think would be a perfect investment for all those parties later in the year. The colour is fabulous and if you aren't usually a fan of 12 cm high heels, you've got time to work on walking in them! Would you pay £75 for them?

 Strangely reminiscent of a pair of curtains (or is that just me?) these ruffled effect 'Pilsner' peep-toe stiletto heeled pumps from Guess at Macys are a gorgeous colour - plus, for all you metallic addicts out there there's something for you too - although it'll be hidden by your beautiful foot most of the time. Available in sizes 5.5-11, they're US$99 and are available in magenta or black satin, or silver leather. Personally I'm totally on the fence with them - they seem kind of frumpy, kind of overly sexy and kind of slighty tacking looking, at the same time as being none of those. I sadly don't own a pair of Alloy-bought shoes myself, so can any of you lovely American readers give me an idea as to the quality to be expected at such a cheap price?

I love the shape, especially the band toe, but I think these shoes would benefit from slightly fewer flowers and a little more plainness. That said, they might just get away with it for many of you. What do you think, are they a potential buy for you? If so, pick them up from Viva La Diva for £80.
